On August 5, the press office of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) announced that the United States was preparing a series of publications on doping abuses that had allegedly been discovered in Russian sports.
“Why is the US doing all this… It would be better if they favored American athletes. Unfortunately, the SVR’s message includes sports that always bring medals to Russia, that’s why the Americans decided to work on them,” Match TV quotes Rodnina.

CBO notes that in the near future, the United States will focus on sports in which Russia traditionally shows the best results – in figure skating, rhythmic gymnastics and synchronized swimming. The SVR also said that this entire project is being supervised by the former director of the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory Grigory Rodchenkov and his deputy Timofey Sobolevsky. They are defectors.
