The fight was originally scheduled for August 24, but the Briton’s injury prevented it from taking place on time.
The fight between the British Jack Catterall (29-1, 13 KOs) and former WBC light welterweight champion, American Regis Prograis (29-2, 24 KOs) has officially received a new date – October 26.
Let us recall that the fight was initially scheduled for August 24. It was supposed to take place in Manchester, at the Co-op Live arena near the Manchester City football club stadium. However, the match had to be postponed – the reason was an injury Catterall received during training.
The 31-year-old British boxer commented on the information about the new date:
“I am delighted that the new date for my fight with Regis Prograis has been set so quickly. A big thank you to Matchroom, my team and Co-op Live for all their hard work.”
“Being the first boxer to compete at Co-op Live is something special and I’m thrilled to have this opportunity again. It was disappointing to have to pull out of a fight for the first time in my 30-fight career, but I need to be fit and healthy for one of the biggest fights of my life.”
Promoter Eddie Hearn had previously said the winner of the Catterall-Prograis fight would face IBF champion Liam Parot in Sydney or Brisbane in November. Now the Australian will likely have to look for an alternative opponent.
Catterall’s most recent fight saw him defeat former undisputed light welterweight champion Josh Taylor via unanimous decision, giving Jack revenge for his 2022 loss to Taylor.
Prograis last entered the ring in December 2023. Regis lost to Devin Haney by unanimous decision, failing to take a single round in his favor.
