Great Britain women’s team wins 2024 Olympic gold in track cycling team sprint with world record

New Zealand and Germany also won Olympic medals

Great Britain Women’s Track Cycling Team won gold medals Olympic Games 2024 in the team sprint.

Katie Marchant, Sophie Capwell and Emma Finucane convincingly defeated the New Zealand team in the final. At the same time, the British women in Paris broke the world record three times in a row, previously held by China (45.487 seconds). Already in the qualification, the future champions covered the distance in 45.472 seconds, in the first round they improved this figure to 45.338, and in the final they again gave a record result of 45.186.

It should be noted that this is not the first Olympic medal for Marchant. In Rio 2016, Katie won bronze in the individual sprint.

The German women’s team won the bronze medal in Paris against the Netherlands.
