Kenyan athlete Faith Kipyegon has won a silver medal in the 5,000 metres at the Paris Olympics after appealing her disqualification, World Athletics announced.
The two-time Olympic champion finished second in 14 minutes 29.60 seconds, behind her compatriot Beatrice Chebet (14:28.56). During the race, Kipyegon pushed one of her competitors, which led to her result being annulled. Second place was awarded to the representative of the Netherlands Sifan Hassan. However, after filing a protest, the Kenyan’s result was reinstated and she remained the silver medalist.
Kipyegon won the Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo Games over 1,500 metres.
