Turki Al Al-Sheikh: I will form a card for the Fury-Usyk rematch on December 21 and another big card in the first quarter of 2025

At the same time, Turki will not be involved in the fight for the absolute world champion in the second middleweight division, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

Chairman of the General Authority of Entertainment of Saudi Arabia Turki Al ash-Sheikh revealed his immediate plans to hold boxing evenings in Riyadh.

Turki said he would put together a card for the fights on September 21, with the main event being a fight between Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua, where Daniel will defend his IBF heavyweight belt. Ukrainian Andrey Sirenko could be one of the participants on the card.

Al ash-Sheikh also said that he does not plan to work on the fight of Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. At the same time, Turki was initially ready to organize a fight between the absolute world champion in the super middleweight and the former absolute champion in two weight categories Terence Crawford.

“Just had an important meeting with my team planning the upcoming fights we will be making in 2024-2025. I have decided to pass on the Canelo fight as I no longer want it. Instead I will focus on bigger fights in the US market, in particular for the legendary Crawford.”

“Also, I will support the organization of fights for Ennis, Haney, Shakur, Ortiz, Anderson, Benavidez, Zepeda and others. As for Tim Tszyu, there was some miscommunication between his team and ours, so I believe that we will review his situation.”

“In terms of the rest of the world, I’m definitely focused on the Riyadh Season card at Wembley on September 21st, which will be Joshua vs. Dubois. Depending on the results of the first Riyadh Season card, [Бивол — Бетербиев] On October 12, I will put together a card for the Fury-Usyk rematch on December 21 and another big card in the first quarter of 2025. Stay tuned.”

In his last fight on the night of May 19, Usyk inflicted the first defeat of his professional career on Tyson Fury in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision of the judges: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.

Oleksandr is the second boxer in history after Evander Holyfield, who was the absolute world champion in cruiserweight and heavyweight. Also, the Ukrainian boxer became the third (after Terence Crawford and Naoya Inoue) in the era of four prestigious titles absolute champion in two weight categories.

Usyk subsequently issued a statement in which he announced that he would give the IBF belt to the winner of the British derby between his two former opponents in the ring – Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua.. Thus, Alexander lost the status of absolute world champion in heavyweight, which he had held for more than a month.

Usyk and Fury have reached an agreement for a rematch. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Alexander and Tyson will take place on December 21, 2024, in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said he would seek the introduction of video replays in this fight.
