European volleyball champion Alexei Spiridonov told that the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) should impose sanctions on Polish referees suspended for drunkenness.
On Tuesday, Polish referees Bartosz Frankowski and Tomasz Musial were suspended from their duties during the first match of the third qualifying round of the Champions League between Dynamo kyiv and Scottish Rangers. According to TVP Sport, the previous evening, three men, including Frankovsky and Musial, were arrested by police for stealing a road sign while intoxicated. After their arrest, the men were placed in a sobering-up station.
– If they want to drink, let them drink, the main thing is that they judge well. It happens that a drunkard with a pure heart will judge better than a sober one with a shaggy hand. I am for justice and I let UEFA determine the sanction.
— Have there been similar cases in your career?
— This happened often in volleyball. We treated it calmly, — Spiridonov told .
