Ukrainian Livach gets second chance to fight for 2024 Olympic medal in freestyle wrestling

Oksana earned the right to participate in the consolation matches thanks to the Indian Phogat’s passage to the finals

Ukrainian Oksana Livach advanced to the consolation round of the competition freestyle wrestling among women in the category up to 50 kilograms Olympics 2024.

Oksana got a second chance to fight for an Olympic medal because her last opponent, Vinesh Phogat from India, reached the final.

The path to bronze will be extremely difficult for Livac. First, in the repechage bout, she will need to defeat Japanese Yui Susaki, the Tokyo Olympic champion. Earlier in Paris, Susaki sensationally lost to the same Phogat. If successful, Livac will have another fight – directly for the bronze.

Let us recall that at the previous Olympics in Tokyo, Livac also fought for the bronze medal, but lost to American Sarah Hildebrandt.

The 2024 Summer Olympics will end on August 11. The competitions will feature 329 sets of awards in 32 sports. Ukraine is represented in Paris by 140 athletes in 23 sports – this is the smallest representation of the blue and yellow during the Olympics.
