41-year-old Cuban Lopez Nunez became a five-time Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling

Japan’s Fumita wins gold in 60kg category

On Olympic Games 2024 two sets of awards were played out in Greco-Roman wrestling.

A Japanese man became the Olympic champion in the 60 kg category Kenichiro Fumita, who won the final against China’s Liguo Cao (4:1).

Bronze medals were won by Zholaman Sharshenbekov from Kyrgyzstan and the representative of the DPRK Ri Se-un, who beat Iranian Mehdi Mohsennejad (3:1) and Rayber Jose Rodriguez Orozco from Venezuela (8:0), respectively.

Cuban Mijain Lopez Nunez won gold in the 130 kg weight class. In the final, he defeated Chilean Yasmani Acosta Fernandez 6:0.

It should be noted that for 41-year-old Nunez, this is the fifth Olympic gold in his career. In Beijing 2008 and London 2012, he triumphed in the 120 kg category, and in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 – in the 130 kg category.

Bronze medals went to Iranian Amin Mirzazadeh and Chinese Lingzhe Meng, who defeated Azerbaijani Sabah Shariati (4:0) and Abdellatif Mohamed from Egypt (5:2), respectively.

The 2024 Summer Olympics will end on August 11. The competition will feature 329 sets of medals in 32 sports.
