Australia’s 2024 Olympic team sets world record in track team pursuit

The Australian men’s team set a world record in the team pursuit race on the cycling track.

On Tuesday, in the qualifying round for the 2024 Olympic Games, they posted a result of 3 minutes 40.730 seconds. Oliver Bleddyn, Sam Welsford, Conor Leahy and Kelland O’Brien surpassed the Italian team record set at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo (3:42.032).

Australia will now face Great Britain for gold in the competition, while Italy will take on Denmark for bronze.

The Olympic Games in the French capital will end on August 11.
