Athletistic / Olympic Games. Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo has no doubt that the open water swimming competitions at the 2024 Olympics will take place in the waters of the Seine. Marathon swimmers are set to take part in the 2024 Olympics on August 8-9.
“This event will definitely take place. We will all certainly wait for the results of the water quality test in the Seine, because the open water competition lasts 10 km, so the swimmers will spend more time in the water than the triathletes. At the moment, measurements of a different nature are being carried out. Obviously, we will wait for the results of the water quality tests, but this event will definitely take place, because in the last few days we have seen a very noticeable improvement in the quality of the water, in particular due to the weather conditions,” Hidalgo quotes.
- See it for yourself. Russia has announced a boycott of the Paris Olympics.
On August 6, the athletes’ training in the waters of the Seine was canceled for the fifth time at the 2024 Olympics. During the first week of the Olympics, the organizing committee of the competition canceled training in the river four times before the triathletes’ departure. However, the competition itself in the Seine was still held. It is noteworthy that after this, many athletes complained of a deterioration in their health, some had to consult a doctor.
