“Dynamo will defend the name of Natalia Goncharova in all possible courts” – club general director

Moscow”Dynamo “does not agree with the decision of the disciplinary commission of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VFV) on sanctions against the team captain Natalia Goncharova and will defend his name in all subsequent courts, Vladimir Zinichev, general director of the capital club, told .

In May, Goncharova was disqualified from a match of the Russian championship and given a six-month suspended sentence for unsportsmanlike behavior. The Dynamo captain made an indecent gesture towards Lokomotiv Kaliningrad volleyball player Ebrard Karakurt in response to provocations from the Turkish diagonal after the playoff match of the Super League semi-final. A second meeting of the VFV disciplinary commission took place on July 26 with the participation of Zinichev and Goncharova, the commission confirmed the sanctions against the Dynamo volleyball player. The VFV did not conduct any proceedings against Karakurt.

“We are still waiting for the minutes of the meeting to get acquainted with them and take further action.” The meeting itself was very emotional. The parties were in diametrically opposed positions. We gave our explanations, apologized and presented documents confirming, in our opinion, that Natalia Goncharova does not deserve the punishment she was given. The most surprising thing, it seems to us, is that among all the participants in the conflict, the members of the disciplinary commission chose only Goncharova for the proceedings. At the same time, in our opinion, when imposing the sanction, the commission did not take into account either her previous career, her impeccable reputation, or the fact that she was the only one of all the participants in the conflict to make a public apology.

Following the results of the repeated meeting, we were informed that the commission unanimously decided to maintain the previously imposed sanctions. We are determined to defend our opinion in all subsequent courts and to defend the reputation of Natalia Goncharova, as long as the judicial perspective allows.

Many of our fans contact the club and Natalia with questions about the course and end of the meeting of the disciplinary commission. More than ten days have passed since the repeated meeting, but there are still no minutes of this meeting. In this regard, we decided to publish on the Dynamo website information about the course of this meeting of the commission – an abbreviated version and a full transcript. We accompanied the text with video and photographic materials, which we provided to the commission as argumentation. I hope that everyone who reads it will be able to form their own impartial opinion about the current situation.

— You said that you will continue to defend Natalia Goncharova’s name in court. Do you already have an idea where to go to appeal?

– There is understanding. There is a procedure provided for by the regulations. We plan to apply to arbitration at the VFW, and then, if necessary, to subsequent courts. This case is being handled on our side by lawyers who have helped us in all previous proceedings. We will defend justice according to our understanding. Natalia Goncharova is not just a Dynamo player, she is a symbol of our team, its soul, its heart, she has been in our club for 18 years. She is a legendary athlete and it is not for nothing that she is listed in the Russian Volleyball Hall of Fame; it is not for nothing that world volleyball star Kim Yong Kun invited Natalia to his farewell match in June this year, the only volleyball player playing in Russia. Goncharova’s authority in the world of volleyball is great. It is our duty to protect her name, “Zinichev told .

As reported by the press service of Dynamo, all arguments and indications of the club regarding violations of the VFW regulations and the regulations of the disciplinary commission were considered insignificant by the members of the commission. During the discussion, the members of the disciplinary commission stated that they did not consider it necessary to indicate in the minutes what served as the basis for the consideration of the case, that they are not obliged to disclose their sources of information and that the disciplinary commission should include in the minutes of the meeting exactly what it considers necessary to include.
