The 2024 Olympics have surpassed eSports in terms of viewership on Ukrainian online broadcasts

More than 160 thousand viewers simultaneously watched the final of Maguchikh and Gerashchenko on YouTube

In Paris they continue Olympic Games 2024. Ukrainian viewers actively follow the twists and turns of sports competitions in France and do so not only through traditional television broadcasts, but also on YouTube and streaming platforms.

The most popular online broadcast of the 2024 Olympics The final of the women’s high jump competition was held on the YouTube channel “Suspilne Sport”. According to the Ukrainian livestreaming analytics platform Streams Chartsthe broadcast of this event gathered more than 162.8 thousand viewers simultaneously.

Two Ukrainians competed in the high jump final. Yaroslava Mahuchikh, the world record holder, won Olympic gold, and Iryna Gerashcheko became the bronze medalist of the 2024 Games.

Interestingly, online broadcasts of the 2024 Olympics gather more Ukrainian viewers than popular eSports events. According to Streams Charts, Ukrainian-language broadcasts of famous eSports tournaments are watched by an average of 20 to 40 thousand viewers at their peak. Sometimes this figure can grow to 50-60 thousand if Ukrainian teams successfully perform in the final stages.

The absolute record for the number of viewers was set by the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 final from Counter-Strike 2 between the Natus Vincere and FaZe Clan teams – the Ukrainian-language broadcast was simultaneously watched by 137.8 thousand fans on Twitch and YouTube.

As for football competitions, the online broadcast of the second qualifying round match of the Champions League between Dynamo Kyiv and Partizan Serbia attracted a total of two YouTube channels more than 120 thousand Ukrainian viewers at the same time. UPL matches are watched online by an average of 40 thousand to 55 thousand Ukrainian fans. The main audience of these competitions still watches matches on television and via OTT services.

According to Streams Charts, the absolute leader among entertainment broadcasts in the Ukrainian segment remains the online broadcast of the national selection for Eurovision 2024 – this broadcast gathered almost 200 thousand viewers at the same time.
