Ukrainian fails to reach semi-final of 2024 Olympic Games in canoe single sprint
Ukrainian canoeist Pavel Altukhov commented on his performance at Olympic Games 2024 in the 1000m canoe slalom for singles.
“Getting to each subsequent Olympic Games becomes more valuable and more difficult. In some ways it is harder, in some ways it is easier, but the value is increasing. Of course, I am glad that I am here, enjoying my stay in the Olympic village, seeing our people.”
“Did the late qualification for the Olympics affect my performance? Maybe. But I don’t want to find any excuses for myself. In fact, the first part of the season didn’t work out for me either.”
“When I learned about the Olympic Games, we gathered a whole team of people, and I really want to thank them. We have done a lot of work over the last month and a half and were able to significantly improve our results. But this is not enough to compete with the strongest.”
Altukhov finished third in his quarter-final heat today with a time of 3.51.58, while only the top two qualified for the semi-finals.
The 2024 Summer Olympics will end on August 11. The competitions will feature 329 sets of awards in 32 sports. Ukraine is represented in Paris by 140 athletes in 23 sports – this is the smallest representation of the blue and yellow during the Olympics.
