Athletistic/ Figure Skating. Honored Russian handball coach Yevgeny Trefilov backed figure skating coach Eteri Tutberidze, who called it ‘absurd’ to update skaters’ ratings and hand out titles at international competitions in the absence of Russian athletes.

“I completely agree with her, indeed, it sounds absurd. Cool, let’s not twist, but we were opposite camps and our results were always compared. Without our competitions became colorless. Take the same hockey world championship, interest in it disappears, ” – Trefilov noted.

Eteri Tutberidze’s point of view was supported by well-known figures from various sports, politics and other fields, including Honored Coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova, producer Yana Rudkovskaya, deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Roman Teryushkov and Dmitry Svishchev and many others. There were also those who criticized Eteri for his statement – for example, four-time Olympic biathlon champion Alexander Tikhonov.
