Japanese figure skater Kaori Sakamoto admitted she was satisfied with the medal ceremony of the team tournament at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.
The ceremony with the participation of the American and Japanese teams took place on Wednesday at the Parc des Champions in Paris. The Russian team won the team tournament of the Games, but after the disqualification of Kamila Valieva for an anti-doping rule violation, the results of the competition were revised. The International Skating Union (ISU) placed the American team in first place, the Japanese team in second place, and the Russian team was supposed to receive bronze; it did not participate in the awards by decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
“I’m happy with how the ceremony went for us, the atmosphere that was there today. I’m happy that this situation has been resolved. Now I have the silver medal, I really like it, I’m happy with how we were received today,” Sakamoto told .
The Japanese team at the 2022 Olympics team tournament was represented by Sakamoto, Shoma Uno, Yuma Kagiyama, Wakaba Higuchi, Riku Miura, Ryuichi Kihara, Misato Komatsubara and Timothy Coleto.
