Athletistic / Chess. Famous Russian sports journalist Dmitry Guberniev spoke about the scandalous incident that occurred during the Dagestan chess championship. One of the participants tried to poison her opponent with mercury.
“This is all horror and a fierce game,” Guberniev wrote on his Telegram channel.
On August 7, it became known that during a chess tournament in Makhachkala, one of the participants fell ill during the competition; the organizers had to call an ambulance for her. Later, video surveillance cameras revealed that another tournament participant, presumably Amina Abakarova, had spilled an unknown substance on the victim’s table a few minutes before the start of the match. According to the results of a toxicological examination, it turned out to be mercury.
Currently, the accused is in the custody of law enforcement agencies. In the near future, the issue of initiating criminal proceedings under the article “Intentional harm to health” will be resolved.
