Athletistic/Figure skating. Russian Curling Federation President and State Duma Deputy Dmitry Svishchev commented on the situation with the allocation of figure skaters to the Paris Olympics and the absence of Russian athletes who were supposed to receive bronze.

“Our team was previously unfairly deprived of Olympic gold medals. Later, the awards were redistributed and we were placed in third place. Canada then appealed, demanding that the bronze be given to them. I believe this is part of a pre-planned scenario. The awards ceremony without the participation of Russian athletes is a political performance aimed at demonstrating that we won the gold and will not give up the bronze.

“Our federation did well to file a complaint. Even if the chances of success are minimal, it would be a mistake not to challenge it. CAS makes highly politicized decisions, but we had to try to achieve justice and reward again with the participation of our athletes. If a medal was taken away from us, we should have been given another one, because our athletes earned it,” Svishtchev said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Last week, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected an appeal by the Canadian women, who sought to be awarded third place in the team tournament after the medals were redistributed due to the disqualification of Kamila Valieva. Russia retained the bronze medals.
