In July 2022, the athlete announced his retirement.
Hanyu won her first Olympic gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. At the Pyeongchang Games (Republic of Korea) in 2018, he repeated his success.
At the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing (China), Yuzuru only became fourth, losing to American Nathan Chen, Yuma Kagiyama and Shoma Uno (both from Japan).
