According to Mediapart, water samples taken from the Paris River during the Olympic Games showed that the water quality only met standards two days out of ten.
The water was particularly polluted on the day of the mixed triathlon relay.
The only exception was on July 30 and 31, when the results of the water samples met the requirements of the International Triathlon Union. On the other days, the level of contamination, particularly by E. coli and intestinal enterococci, exceeded the permitted standards. These results can be explained by the rain and the poor condition of the sewage system.
Since the start of the Paris Olympics, several athletes have expressed their dissatisfaction with the quality of the Seine water, and training and competitions have been postponed due to its pollution.
