Beleniuk ends career after winning bronze medal at 2024 Olympics

The Ukrainian took off his shoes and left them in the center of the mat after his last fight

Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestler Jean Beleniuk officially finished sports career.

Let us recall that the Ukrainian defeated the representative of Poland Arkadiusz Marcin Kulinich in the fight for bronze in the category up to 87 kilograms. After the fight, Zhan danced the hopak, took off his shoes, left them in the center of the mat and said goodbye to the audience.

For Beleniuk, the Paris 2024 Olympic award was the third in his career. In Rio 2016, Zhan won silver, and in 2021 in Tokyo he became the Olympic champion. The Ukrainian also has five medals from the World Championships, including two gold, victories and medals at the European Championships and the European Games.

Also today, Ukrainian Parviz Nasibov won a silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in the 67 kg category. In total, Ukraine has 10 medals (3 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze).

The 2024 Summer Olympics will end on August 11. The competitions will feature 329 sets of medals in 32 sports. Ukraine will be represented in Paris by 140 athletes in 23 sports – this is the smallest representation of the blue and yellow during the Olympics.
