Tebogo became Botswana’s first Olympic champion, winning the 200m race

Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo won gold in the 200m at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The 21-year-old athlete covered the distance in 19.46 seconds, setting an African record. Second place went to American Kenneth Bednarek (19.62), third place went to Olympic 100m champion American Noah Lyles (19.70).

Tebogo brought Botswana its first ever Olympic gold medal and also became the first African to win the event at the Games.

The Olympic Games in the French capital will end on August 11.
