Athletistic / Tennis. Russian Olympic tennis champion Andrei Rublev (world number 8) has explained why he refused to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
“I didn’t compete in the Olympics because my team and I felt that I was not mentally ready at the moment. My last results and the way I behaved… We just decided that I had to make my career a priority. I took a short break to recover mentally, play a few ATP-250 tournaments and come to the United States earlier to be fully prepared for the Montreal Masters,” Rublev said, as quoted by Punto de Break.

Andrey Rublev made his debut in the thousand meters in Montreal (Canada), defeating the Argentinian Thomas Martin Etcheverry in the second round. To reach the quarterfinals of the competition, Rublev will play the American Brandon Nakashima (number 52 in the ATP ranking).
It is worth noting that at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo (Japan), Rublev and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova won a gold medal in mixed doubles.
