The head of the Russian national teams’ sports training center (TSSP) Georgy Bryusov called the statements of the president of the All-Russian Federation of Kayak and Canoe (VFGBK) Evgeniy Arkhipov regarding the canoeist unacceptable. Olesya Romasenko .

— Yesterday, in a commentary on following the results of the single canoe event at a distance of 200 meters at the Summer Olympics in Paris, the president of the All-Russian Kayak and Canoe Federation, Evgeny Arkhipov, called a member of the Russian national kayak and canoe team, an employee of the National Sports Training Center of Russian teams, Olesya Romasenko, a “worthless athlete.”

As the director of the Central Sports Center, I responsibly declare that we do not know the “worthless athlete Olesya Romasenko.” We know Olesya Romasenko as a four-time European champion and multiple world championship medalist, as well as an athlete who has never lost the Russian singles championship in the last Olympic cycle.

It is well known that all discussions on the results and plans of athletes of the Russian national teams are held according to strictly regulated procedures within the framework of the provisions of the All-Russian Federations, the Sports Center and the Ministry of Sports of Russia.

“In the conditions of strong pressure on our athletes from international federations, I consider it completely unacceptable to subject them to unreasonable harassment at home and to make such comments. TsSP, as an employer of members of the Russian national teams, will continue to protect the honor and dignity of our athletes,” Bryusov wrote on the Telegram channel.

In July, reported that the 34-year-old had directly contacted the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to obtain a license.

The Olympic Games in the French capital will end on August 11.
