Ukrainians Chekan and Tovkai fail to qualify for pentathlon final at 2024 Olympics

Ukrainians Alexander Tovkai And Vladislav Chekan did not make it to the finals of the competition pentathlon on Olympics 2024.

Let us recall that Alexander was leading after the first round of fencing, which took place on Thursday. However, in the show jumping semi-final, his horse refused to jump over one of the obstacles three times, after which Tovkay was not awarded points for the round. Alexander took 17th place in the B semi-final.

Chekan was 20th after the fencing round on Thursday. In the semifinals, Vladislav was 11th, 11 points behind the qualifying ninth place.

In Semi-final B, the best result was shown by Japanese Taishu Sato and Korean Chun Un-tae, who scored 1515 points each. In Semi-final A, the best result was shown by Egyptian Ahmed Elgendy, who set a new Olympic record (1516). The final competition will be held on August 10.

The 2024 Summer Olympics will end on August 11. The competitions will feature 329 sets of awards in 32 sports. Ukraine is represented in Paris by 140 athletes in 23 sports – this is the smallest representation of the blue and yellow during the Olympics.
