Spain beat France in dramatic overtime in 2024 Olympic men’s football final

The French overcame a two-goal deficit after the first half, but the Pyrenees scored twice in extra time

National team Spain beat in overtime France in the final of the men’s football tournament on Olympics 2024 in Paris – 5:3 (3:3 in regular time).

The hosts opened the scoring in the 11th minute, with Enzo Millot scoring. However, the Spaniards responded with three goals in the space of 10 minutes. Fermin Lopez scored twice, while Alex Baena scored another goal.

The French managed to get one goal back in the middle of the second half, Magnes Akliouch scored. Already in stoppage time, Jean-Philippe Mateta converted a penalty, and transferred the match to overtime.

In extra time, the Spaniards secured victory thanks to a brace from Sergio Camello. It should be noted that goalkeeper Arnau Tenas assisted the last goal, using a powerful throw from his hand to put the forward one-on-one.

Earlier, the bronze medals were won by the Moroccan team. In the match for third place, the Moroccans scored six clean sheets against Egypt.

Let us recall that the Ukrainian team took third place in the group stage of the 2024 Olympics with three points. Ruslan Rotan’s team won against Morocco, but did not make it to the playoffs due to defeats by Iraq (1:2) and Argentina (0:2).
