15 Russian athletes took part in the Paris Olympics. All were admitted in neutral status. The Russians won one medal, and tennis players Mirra Andreeva and Diana Schneider won silver in pairs.
Ukrainian fencer Kharlan spoke out against Russians participating in the Olympics in a neutral status
“First, these are not Russian athletes, but neutral athletes. Secondly, I do not understand whether it was worth going to the Games when most of our best athletes refused to participate in such humiliating conditions. What did they think they would conquer? What were your hopes? It was ridiculous to count on anything.
“Honestly, I didn’t even follow their results, because I’m just outraged that these 15 people were found among the whole huge team that was supposed to perform there. They didn’t care about their country, that’s all,” Rodionenko quotes RIA Novosti as saying.
