Figure skating coach Denis Samokhin said that his students Irina Khavronina And David Narizhny who practice ice dancing, have no intention of changing federations and are ready to fight for leading positions in Russia.
Khavronina and Narizhny teamed up last winter and are training in the group of Samokhin and Maria Borovikova. In their first season, the skaters became winners of two stages of the Russian Grand Prix, and also won bronze at the Russian Championship and the Spartakiad of the strongest.
— How are the skaters in your group in shape?
— Everyone’s health is good, everything is in optimal shape at the moment. Two junior couples are skating in two and a half weeks, adults are preparing, there is a month left. Now we will go directly to loading, rolling out programs, only for skates. There are still a few small things to complete in the productions. After the skates, we will do everything according to what they tell us, change something, fix something, clean it, prepare for competitions.
— How do you assess the morale of the leaders Irina and David?
“Morally, they are ready to fight for leadership, not even for second place. Nothing bothers. Of course, we are a little upset that we do not have an international arena, but no one has one now, nothing can be done. One day, maybe it will happen. In Russia, we are ready to fight for leadership.
— Are there any conversations with the guys about international competitions?
— We talked with the guys. They understand perfectly well that there are two options: either you change the federation, or you wait for what is available. Neither we nor they want to change the Federation, as long as there are no prerequisites for this, we are satisfied with everything in the country. We like skating in Russia, there is competition, everything is fine. The skaters are absolutely ready for this, they continue to work, “the correspondent reports on Samokhin’s words.
