The Ukrainian boxer tried to throw more, but the American worked well with the jab, looked better in the fight and relied on power punches. After the fourth round, the opponents were informed that the knockdown still counted in the first three minutes in favor of the interim champion.

Bogachuk was left at the beginning of the seventh round, but this did not put him out of the fight and he was able to cause problems for his opponent, and in the next three minutes scored a second knockdown. The Ukrainian caught his opponent with a left hook, after which he fell to the floor of the ring. However, the American tried to fight back and managed to stun his opponent, despite the fact that he himself had already received a cut.

At the start of the final three minutes, Bogachuk almost found himself knocked out. Ortiz managed to get to the Ukrainian, but he fought back, and the fight lasted all the allotted 12 rounds.

At the end of the fight, the judges gave the victory to Ortiz by majority decision with a score of 113-113, 112-114, 112-114.
