A sprinter from the Democratic Republic of Congo tested positive for doping at the Paris Olympics

Congolese sprinter Dominique Lasconi Mulamba tested positive for a metabolite of stanozolol in a doping control during the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the International Anti-Doping Control Agency (ITA) reported.

Mulamba competed in the 100 meters in Paris and failed to qualify for the semi-finals.

“ITA reports that a sample taken from athlete Dominique Lasconi Mulamba of the Democratic Republic of Congo (athletics – 100m sprint) tested negative for the banned metabolite stanozolol,” the statement said.

The sample was collected by the ITA on August 4, out of competition. The result was reported on August 9 by a Paris laboratory accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency. An athlete is suspended from competition pending a decision and has the right to appeal the suspension to a special division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Mulamba’s best time in the 100 meters is 10.16 seconds.

The Olympic Games in the French capital will end on August 11.
