Diver Maxim Gulidov told that he really liked the format of the Kremlin Cup.
On Saturday, Gulidov won the bronze medal in platform diving at the Kremlin Cup with a score of 39.15 points. Alexander Kalashnikov won (58.50 points), Ruslan Ternovoy took second place (52.70 points).
On Sunday, Gulidov failed to qualify for the three-meter springboard final. The tournament was held according to a new format: in each round, the points are updated and the athlete with the lowest score is eliminated.
— I really liked these competitions. Something new. When you try something new, you always wonder what will happen. The Federation has created an incredibly interesting format. Since the fight is for relegation, you have to fight to the end, you can’t relax in any jump. Any athlete can be at the top.
– Why did it happen on the tower?
— I jumped both the platform and the springboard. The tower is my main projectile. I gave it my all and finished in the top 3, I’m happy. On the springboard, I didn’t reach the final, but I did a good jump in the compulsory program. Lack of experience on the springboard.
— Why did you decide to go ski jumping?
— Because I knew that in the preliminary competitions the compulsory program was easy jumps. And this is a classic, everyone should be able to jump classics. The coach said: “Let’s jump. You don’t have to reach the final, just return to your seven points. And that’s what happened,” Gulidov told .
The Moscow tournament was organized by the Russian Diving Federation together with the Moscow Diving Sports Federation and channel.
