Athletistic / Olympic Games. UFC lightweight champion, Russian mixed martial arts fighter Islam Makhachev has criticized the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for its attitude towards Russian athletes.
“These days I enjoyed watching wrestling. It is a pity that even such a courageous sport has been infiltrated by dirty politicians. People who have devoted their whole lives to this sport and had a chance to fight at the Olympics were forced to stay at home and watch it on TV. Dirty countries with double standards are depriving Russian athletes of what they have fought for all their lives,” Makhachev wrote on his social media page.
The Russian team has been suspended from participating in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Officially, the IOC associates this with the inclusion of representatives of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions in the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).
The 2024 Olympic Games were held in the French capital from July 26 to August 11. At these Olympic Games, 15 Russians competed in neutral status. The only medal won by our athletes at the Paris Games was the silver of tennis players Mirra Andreeva and Diana Schneider in women’s doubles.
