Chelsea won’t sign Atletico striker Omorodion

The forward is close to moving to another club

Chelsea won’t buy a striker Atlético Samou Omorodion.

The transfer is reportedly hampered by a number of serious issues that have led the Blues to pull out of the deal. It is worth noting that Omorodion is still close to leaving Madrid and has offers to move to an unnamed third club.

Chelsea had previously planned to pay £35m for the 20-year-old forward, with Atletico looking to accept the offer after the deal for Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez was completed.

Omorodione was bought by Atletico Madrid from Granada in the summer of 2023 for 6 million and was immediately loaned to Alaves. The large center forward quickly made his way into the Basque club’s starting lineup, playing 35 matches during the season and scoring eight goals (with one assist). At the same time, Samu managed to score for Granada in the first round – and right into the goal of Diego Simeone’s team.

Samu became an Olympic champion as part of the Spanish national team. Omorodion scored a goal against Egypt in the third round of the 2024 Olympic Games group round.

Ukrainian Mykhailo Mudryk’s team will play Manchester City in the first round of the new English championship on August 18. Atletico will meet Villarreal in their opening match in Primera on August 19.
