Former FFKKR President Valentin Piseev has died

Honorary President of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) Valentin Piseev has died at the age of 83, Honorary Vice-President of the International Skating Union (ISU) Alexander Lakernik told .

Piseev previously headed the Russian Figure Skating Federation.

“Valentin Nikolaevich is gone, it’s true,” Lakernik told .

Piseev was elected president of the Soviet Figure Skating Federation in 1989, and after its dissolution he headed the Russian Figure Skating Federation. In 2010, after amending the organization’s charter, Piseev was elected its general director, which he held until 2014.

Previously, the official was a member of the executive committee of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) and held the title of Honored Coach of the USSR. He worked as a judge at the European Championships, World Championships and Olympic Games (1972, 1976) and was elected to the ISU Technical Committee. Piseev was awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky, the Order of Honor and the Silver Order of the International Olympic Committee.
