Triple Olympic champion Irina Rodnina highlighted the contribution of the former president of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) Valentin Piseyev to the victories of national athletes at the international level.
On Monday, International Skating Union (ISU) Honorary Vice-President Alexander Lakernik told that Piseev had died at the age of 82.

Piseev was elected president of the Soviet Figure Skating Federation in 1989, and after its dissolution he headed the Russian Figure Skating Federation. In 2010, after amending the organization’s charter, Piseev was elected its general director, which he held until 2014.
Previously, the official was a member of the executive committee of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) and held the title of Honored Coach of the USSR. He worked as a judge at the European Championships, World Championships and Olympic Games (1972, 1976) and was elected to the ISU Technical Committee. Piseev was awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky, the Order of Honor and the Silver Order of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
