The Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) has expressed its condolences following the death of its Honorary President, Valentin Piseev.
On Monday, International Skating Union (ISU) Honorary Vice-President Alexander Lakernik told that Piseev had died at the age of 82.
— At the age of 83, Valentin Nikolayevich Piseev died after a serious illness. Honorary President of the FFKKR, he headed for many years – from 1989 to 2010 – the USSR and then Russian Figure Skating Federation; Director General of the Russian Federation from 2010 to 2014, member of the Executive Committee of the Russian Olympic Committee since 1992. Honored Coach of the USSR.
Valentin Piseyev’s work has been awarded with national and international awards. He was awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky, the Order of Honor, the Order of Friendship of Peoples, the medal “For Labor Valor”, the medal “Veteran of Labor”, the badge of honor “Sports Glory of Russia”. He was awarded international awards: the Silver Order of the International Olympic Committee, the highest award of the International Skating Union – the George Hessler Medal.
Valentin Nikolaevich devoted himself to figure skating, lived for it and could not imagine himself without this work.
