Athletistic / Olympic Games. International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach delivered a speech at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France. When listing the participants in the 2024 Olympic Games, the German did not mention the neutral athletes from Russia and Belarus who took part in these competitions.
“Despite all the tensions in the world, you all came to Paris and represented the 206 National Olympic Committees and the Refugee Olympic Team. It was about making the City of Lights shine brighter than ever. Your performances in Paris were incredible. You competed against each other, and every competition was on the verge of perfection, every performance brought joy to the whole world. It was you who showed us all how great we, the people, are capable of. The Olympic Games Paris 2024 have become a celebration of the athletes and the sport of its time at its best,” Bach was quoted as saying by the IOC press service.
It should be noted that 206 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) have officially participated in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Athletes from Russia and Belarus were admitted to the 2024 Olympic Games with individual neutral status and after fulfilling a number of requirements and meeting a number of criteria.
