Athletistic / Olympic Games. The head of the Republic of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, congratulated the wrestlers born in this region of Russia on winning medals at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris (France).
“Today, Dagestan is the victories of our athletes at the Olympic Games. And even though in Paris they competed under the flags of other countries, we all know very well where their path to the higher levels of world sports began. Their character was developed in the wrestling schools of Dagestan and their skills improved to fight with the strongest opponents.
Congratulations to our champions on their bright and confident victories at the Olympic Games. Thank you for representing Dagestan with dignity! I also congratulate their coaches, their relatives and all Dagestanis who supported them.
And to those wrestlers whose path to the Olympics was closed, I will now say one thing: for us you are the same champions! I am sure that victories await you and the Russian anthem will be heard more than once at the most prestigious competitions! – Melikov wrote on his Telegram channel.
In the freestyle wrestling competitions at the 2024 Olympic Games, the champions of the games were Razambek Zhamalov, Magomed Ramazanov and Akhmed Tazhudinov. The bronze medal was won by Magomedkhan Magomedov and Dauren Kurugliev. Note that Gashim Magomedov won silver in the taekwondo competition.
