President SC Prometheus Vladimir Dubinsky reported that the club and its sports academy were ceasing to exist due to pressure from law enforcement agencies. Dubinsky also announced his resignation to the president PVLU and vice president FVU.
“Friends, fans, respected sports community! Today I am addressing you, unfortunately, not with good news about SC Prometey. On August 7, in one day, investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police and operational officers of the Department of Strategic Investigations of Ukraine, in accordance with the ruling of the Pechersk Court of Kyiv, conducted searches in SC Prometey, Prometey Academy and their sports departments, and also came to the offices and homes of the club’s sponsors, to the house where my family lives.”
“In addition, on August 8, without any court orders, an illegal search was conducted of my hotel room in Kyiv, where I was on a business trip for the Professional Volleyball League of Ukraine. During the search, the so-called law enforcement officers behaved insolently, unreasonably cruelly and in the most humiliating manner, used physical force and threatened with weapons. They illegally seized my personal phone and laptop. In one moment, they made thieves and traitors of the state out of all of us.”
“We are accused of money laundering through SK Prometheus, accusations of cooperation with an aggressor country, etc. Nine hours of humiliation, the result of which was an act with the wording – nothing was found.”
“What is the result we have today, due to the events that have taken place. We have lost the financial support of patrons who are not ready to bear reputational losses due to their intentions to sponsor Ukrainian sports. The very essence of their involvement in sports is reputational income, which the security forces took from us at the investigation stage, making it loud.”
“Recently, a similar fate befell the Alanta volleyball club, which, due to searches in the company of Alexander Zapyshny, lost funding and ceased to exist.”
“Therefore, I am forced to inform that SC Prometey, a multiple champion of Ukraine, a regular participant in European Cup competitions, and the Prometey Sports Academy will cease to exist as of today due to pressure from law enforcement agencies. I, in turn, resign from my powers as president of the PVLU and vice-president of the FVU.”
In June, Dubinsky reported that basketball Prometey would 100% continue to exist, and volleyball Prometey would 99% continue to exist.
The Prometey men’s and women’s volleyball teams became champions of Ukraine last season, and the volleyball players, led by Ivan Petkov, set a unique achievement for Ukraine, not losing a single set in the domestic arena during the season.
