Clement: We need to be prepared for different scenarios in the game with Dynamo

The coach also spoke about the difficulty of choosing the team

Head coach Rangers Philippe Clement commented on the upcoming return match with Dynamo in the third qualifying round Champions League 2024/25.

“I hope we can create an atmosphere. We will give everything on the pitch to make the fans excited about what is happening.”

“I was really happy with that and the last minute goal, it was a deserved goal so in the end we had more shots on target than they did in the game and of course you want that goal to come quicker but there’s a really good goalkeeper on the other side as well.”

“We have one doubt about the squad for the weekend, Leon Balogun, he felt something at the end of the game, so he didn’t train today. We’ll see how he is tomorrow.”

“It’s about making a choice tomorrow who to start with and knowing that I’m going to have to change a few positions. It’s about making the right decisions about what you need at the start of the game, what you need at the end of the game and also thinking about the extra time, for example, so that you can make interesting choices.”

“We’ll do a few different things, things that we’ve seen where we can hurt them, and we’re paying more attention to that.”

“I don’t know what they’re going to do, maybe they’ll wait more, sit more and count on counter-attacks in transition, I don’t know, but we need to be prepared for different scenarios.

“They are a really good football team, we got a lot out of being compact and pressing well as a team last week, but they are also very dangerous from set pieces and they are really good in transition.”

Dynamo missed out on a victory in a “home” match for itself, which took place in Lublin. Andriy Yarmolenko scored for the Kyiv club, while Cyril Dessers scored for the Scots in stoppage time.

The return match between Dynamo and Rangers in the third qualifying round of the Champions League will take place in Glasgow on Tuesday, August 13. The match kicks off at 21:45. It will be officiated by Italian referee Marco Guida.

If the Kiev team gets past Rangers, they will face the winner of the Salzburg-Twente match in the play-off round for a place in the overall stage.
