Former Shakhtar defender Vitao to move to Betis

The contract will be for five years.

Former Shakhtar defender and now Internacional’s centre-back Vitao will go to Betis.

The parties have already exchanged documents. The Brazilian is expected to sign a five-year contract with Betis in the near future.

Since July, Vitao has become a full-fledged player of Internacional. The defender has been playing for the Brazilian club on loan from Shakhtar since April 2022.

The Brazilian moved to Shakhtar from Palmeiras in 2019. In March 2024, it became known that Internacional would sign a five-year contract with Vitao.

Shakhtar had previously offered the Brazilian club to buy out the defender’s contract for 10 million euros. Instead, Internacional extended Vitao’s loan until the end of June 2024.

Vitao has played 32 matches for the club in all competitions this season, scoring one goal and making one assist.

Betis is a potential opponent of Kryvbas in the Conference League playoffs. The Green-Whites finished last season in seventh place.

Betis will begin the 2024/25 La Liga Championship on August 15 with a match against Girona, where Viktor Tsygankov plays.
