Lazio agree loan deal for Salernitana and Senegal forward Dia

The loan will have a subsequent option to buy Dia’s contract for 10 million euros

Lazio reached an agreement with Salernitana about forward rental Boulaye Dia.

Lazio will pay 1 million euros for the one-year loan of the 27-year-old Senegalese. The agreement between the clubs will also include an option to buy out Dia’s contract for 10 million euros, which will become mandatory if certain conditions are met.

Today, a meeting between Dia’s representatives and Lazio is expected to discuss the terms of the forward’s personal contract.

In July, interest in Dia was reported from Girona.

Boulaye Dia did not play for Salernitana for the entire second half of last season due to disagreements with the club’s management. The reason was that the management of the Italian team did not let the forward go to another club in the winter, although the Senegalese had a number of lucrative offers, including from the Premier League.

Dia had a great first season with Salernitana, scoring 16 goals in the 2022/23 campaign and helping his club stay in Serie A. Dia also had one successful year with Villarreal, reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League with the Spanish club.

Boulaye Dia is also successful in the Senegal national team, with which he reached the 2022 World Cup playoffs as the main forward.

Lazio have already signed Fiorentina midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli, Verona winger Tijani Noslin, Hatayspor midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Salernitana winger Louma Chauna this off-season.

Lazio will open the new season on August 18, when they host Venezia in the opening round of Serie A.
