Athletistic/OI-2024. Russian Tennis Federation President Shamil Tarpishchev assessed the atmosphere of the Paris Olympics, where Russian athletes competed in neutral status.

“There was a real Olympic spirit in Paris. All the halls were packed and I think these Olympics will set a record in terms of attendance. The internal world of sport is much fairer than what happens around it. The main thing for people is the event. At every Olympics, there are organizational problems. All the athletes came to win medals. In terms of entertainment and attendance, Paris amazed me with its spirit. I can only use enthusiastic epithets.

There was a great atmosphere at the tennis matches. From the first to the last day, the stands were full. It was a crowd we knew well. We won all the big victories in Paris: the Davis Cup, the Fed Cup. Even if the French don’t dominate tennis, they love it here. I didn’t hear a single whistle directed at the athletes; everyone was friendly, regardless of their sympathies. So our tennis players felt at home.

The only thing that can be seen is some shortcomings in the life of the Olympic village. But this is typical for any country hosting the Games. Even here, the senior coaches of the national team, Igor Kunitsyn and Igor Andreev, did excellent preparatory work, arrived in advance and took care of comfortable accommodation for Russian athletes,” Tarpishchev was quoted as saying by Soviet Sport.
