Elvira Khasanova set a world record in race walking over a distance of 10,000 meters at the Russian Athletics Championships in Yekaterinburg.
Khasanova showed a result of 40 minutes 59.93 seconds. Reykhan Kagramanova (41.11.48) took second place, Kristina Lyubushkina took third (44.16.08).
Khasanova surpassed the world record in this discipline, set in July 1990 by Soviet athlete Nadezhda Ryashkina – 41:56.23. At the moment, this distance is not included in the program of the Olympic Games and World Championships.
