Any IOC member wishing to stand for election must declare his or her intention to stand for election in a letter to IOC President Thomas Bach no later than 15 September 2024.

Current IOC President Thomas Bach has announced that he will step down at the end of his term in office. Bach has held the post since 2013.

The election of Thomas Bach’s successor will take place during the IOC Session in Athens, which will take place from 18 to 21 March 2025.
