Swimmer Sotnikov: “The Paralympics are the main start of the season. I am physically ready, all I have to do is cope emotionally and not lose myself.

Russian Paralympic team swimmer Vladimir Sotnikov told that he is physically ready to compete in the Paralympics, all he has to do now is deal with his emotions.

On Thursday, at the training center of the Russian national teams “Lake Krugloye”, an open training of Russian swimmers takes place ahead of the Paralympic Games in the French capital, which will take place from August 28 to September 8.

— We are preparing diligently and intensely. The Paralympic Games are the main start of this season, which takes place every four years. I am physically ready, I just have to cope emotionally and not lose myself. The last start was three years ago and I did not feel this responsibility because I was quite young. Now the stakes are high enough and it is impossible to lose.

We enter the training cycle a year before the Paralympics, and six months before the competition we start preparing intensively. After Europe we started preparing a little later, as summer approached, but I think this cycle should be enough to win our distances.

After the Tokyo Paralympics, I swam three times with the best results: twice at the Friendship Games and once at the World Cup in France. But now I understand that I need to achieve even better results. Yes, with the current results you can win prizes, but we aim for more, so we need to do our best,” Sotnikov told .

Earlier, the IPC told that 90 Russian athletes had received accreditation to participate in the Paris Paralympics.

The performances of Russian athletes at the Paralympic Games can be watched live on the channels of the “Match!” family.
