In early August, Osmanova’s rival Amina Abakarova poured mercury onto the gaming table in an attempt to poison the chess player.

“Actually, I do not insist on criminal prosecution. The main thing is lifelong disqualification at all levels and a ban on educational activities. This will be the most serious punishment for her. As far as I know, chess is everything to her. She has no family, she is 40 years old, and chess is what she has. For me, participating in tournaments is a game and a hobby, but for her, chess has been the meaning of life for many years. I would like measures to be taken so that the incident does not remain without consequences,” Osmanova said in an interview with Match TV.
