Russian Paralympic team swimmer Adelina Razetdinova told that no other competition in the world can compare to the Paralympics.
On Tuesday, an open training session of Russian swimmers took place in Kaluga ahead of the Paralympic Games in the French capital, which will be held from August 28 to September 8.
— What are your main emotions before the Paris Paralympic Games?
– Emotions are very mixed – from joy to fear, there is only one step. Sometimes I feel great joy that I have achieved this goal and qualified for the Paralympic Games, and that I have the opportunity to embark on this great sports fairy tale. I played at Tokyo 2020 and it was something incredible. No world or European championship can compete with that. The Paralympic Games are a huge fairy tale in which people from all over the world participate, and you are also in it. It is worth many years of training and work.
– Why be afraid?
“I want to show the best results.” And you always wonder if you are doing everything right, if you are putting all your efforts into your preparation. Maybe somewhere you can push even more. But there are many other joyful emotions.
— Do you have any advice for swimmers who did not go to the Olympics in large numbers? Paralympians have adopted a neutral status and are not afraid of provocations.
“I can’t say anything to healthy swimmers, because they have a different sport, a different federation, their own realities. They imposed completely different demands on us. And I can’t tell them that they did something wrong, but they should have done it differently.
I can only answer that we have made several preliminary starts. And I have received only good emotions from my competitors. Everyone is very friendly, they say hello, chat and say that they missed us. That is why I have no fear of going to Paris.
— Since this year, have our Paralympians started performing again?
– Yes. We have already participated in competitions in Italy and Portugal. Foreigners treated us very well and for us it is a joy, “Razetdinova told .
Earlier, the President of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) Pavel Rozhkov told that the organization had sent applications of 92 athletes to the Paralympic Games Organizing Committee. It is expected that 48 track and field athletes, 35 swimmers, five table tennis athletes, two triathlon and two taekwondo athletes will take part in the Games in the French capital.
