Today, Luhansk residents missed out on points for the first time in this UPL competition
Head coach Zari Yuri Koval commented on his team’s defeat in the third round match UPL against Alexandria (1:2).
“It was a fighting game between equal teams. Alexandria made good use of its own moments. Unfortunately, not everything we planned worked out today. There are new players, and that is where the problems in defense come from due to communication. It will take time to establish communication, interaction, and for the guys to adapt. Thanks to the team for fighting to the end.”
“What adjustments were made during the break? We saw which players did not act as we had agreed. We prepared carefully for Alexandria. This is a very good team with a competent coach. We made changes and the second half showed that it worked. Unfortunately, quantity did not turn into quality.”
In the opening two matches of the UPL, Zorya celebrated victories – the Luhansk team beat Ingulets (2:1) and Chornomorets (1:0) one after another. The misfire against Oleksandria was the first for Yuriy Koval’s team at the start of this season.
Zorya will play its next match on August 21 in the Ukrainian Cup against amateur Olimpia. In the fourth round of the UPL, the Luhansk team will face Rukh in Lviv on August 25.
