Fonseca avoids failure in debut match at Rossoneri
Milan narrowly avoided a home defeat against Torino in the first round Serie A — 2:2.
In the first half, Paulo Fonseca’s team, who made his debut at the head of the Rossoneri at the official level, had the initiative, created chances, but did not convert them. The main squanderer was Rafael Leão – first he shot over the top from a lethal distance, and then with the score 0:1 he did not convert a one-on-one. Torino also attacked sharply: Maignan saved twice after shots from Duvan Zapata and Ivan Ilic.
The visitors took the lead in a somewhat curious way: Bellanova closed a cross from a sharp angle, the ball hit the post, and after contact with Malik Tchau’s foot, it completely crossed the goal line.
In the middle of the second half, the Bulls stunned the hosts for the second time: Zapata closed Valentino Lazaro’s soft pass from the goal area without resistance.
Newcomer Alvaro Morata came out to save Fonseca. He earned a penalty, but the referee overturned his decision after reviewing the replay. Then the Spaniard scored, but from an offside position. And yet Alvaro did not leave without a goal – he successfully deflected a long-range shot by Tijani Reynders into the goal.
Milan pressed hard on the opponent’s penalty area and managed to save a draw. The saving goal was organized by two more jokers: Yunus Musa made a cross, and Noah Okafor shot a touch.
In the next round, the Red and Blacks will travel to Parma, and Torino will host Atalanta.
