Columbus Crew with Cheberko beat New York City on penalties and reached the semifinals of the MLS League Cup

The Ukrainian came out in the starting lineup and was replaced in the 69th minute of the game

The quarter-final match took place MLS League Cupin which Columbus Crew Ukrainian defender Evgeniya Cheberko passed in the penalty shootout New York City (1:1, 4:3 pen.)

New York City opened the scoring in the first minute of the game thanks to a goal from Costa Rican Alonso Martinez. The hosts restored the status quo shortly before the break – Colombian Cucho, known for his performances in Europe for Watford, Getafe and Mallorca, scored.

Ukrainian Yevhen Cheberko started for Columbus Crew as usual, but was substituted in the 69th minute of the match.

The 90 minutes of the match did not reveal the strongest and the teams went to a penalty shootout. New York City’s Maximiliano Morales and Santiago Rodriguez missed their shots, while Columbus Crew’s only attempt was inaccurate, Diego Rossi.

As a result, Columbus Crew made it to the semi-finals of the MLS League Cup, where they will play an away game against Philadelphia Union on August 22.
